x-ray 1

Initial Examination

18 year old male with a chief complaint of recurrent low back pain.

Findings/Discussions: As you can see on his initial x-ray (#1), there is 41mm of anterior head carriage. As a result, the normal cervical curve is decreased and this creates tension on the spinal cord. Although the misalignment is in the neck, this can still affect the low back.

Progressive Examination Performed After Being Under Care for 3 Months

After 3 months of adjustments, he reports that his low back pain has improved, but that he still experiences the occasional pain. He is not doing his recommended postural exercises.

x-ray 2

Progressive Examination Performed After Being Under Care for 6 Months

After 6 months of adjustments, he reports that he no longer experiences any low back pain, but unfortunately, he is still not doing the recommended postural exercises.

Findings/Discussion: As you can see on his x-ray (#2), the anterior head carriage has decreased to 24mm. Even though he no longer experiences any low back pain, his cervical curve is still decreased. As a result, this continues to put tension on the spinal cord, which can affect the function of the nervous system. We are continuing with regular adjustments in order to fully restore a normal cervical curve and he is supposed to get back on track with his postural exercises.

x-ray 3

Progressive X-ray Performed After Being Under Care for 12 Months

x-ray 4

Progressive X-ray Performed After Being Under Care for 2 Years

x-ray 5

Progressive Examination Performed After Being Under Care for 3 Years

After 3 years of adjustments, he still reports that he no longer experiences any low back pain, or any other health concerns. He never did do the recommended postural exercises.

Findings/Discussion: As you can see on his x-ray (#5), the anterior head carriage has decreased to 12mm. This is within the normal average that we are looking for. It’s great to see that his cervical curve is now fully restored, but this case should not have taken so long. If the patient had done the recommended postural exercises, full correction could have been achieved within 12-18 months instead of 36 months.
